Kim Shaklee
Kim’s desire when making her bronze sculptures is to go beyond simply replicating the animal but their essence becomes the central focal point of her work, placing a great deal of emphasis on an animal’s personality. She uses unusual patinas during the coloration process by combining heat and various oxides and nitrates. “I love all of the possibilities for creating variegated shades of gold, copper, silver, red, brown, green and shades of blue; in addition to all of the wonderful patterning variations.”
